Hauntingly Good Cookies | Gideon’s Bakehouse Review At Disney Springs

Would you wait over an hour in line for a hauntingly delicious bakeshop experience? For something that’s really worth sinking your teeth into, keep reading!

When we took our first family trip to Disney, one of the “must do” things on my list was a visit to Gideon’s Bakehouse.

Gideon’s Bakehouse is a speciality bakery with two locations- one at Disney Springs, and the original location at the East End Market in Orlando. This spooky bakery is a popular tourist attraction, and when researching must-do things at Disney Springs, it was a frequent recommendation.

When we arrived at Disney Springs that morning, we used the Disney app to guide us to Gideon’s. As expected, the line was already wrapped aroung the building. Two Gideon’s employees were outside managing the line, and told us it would be a 40 minute wait. Believe me when I say, Gideon’s is worth the wait.

There is lots of seating available along this edge while you wait in line.

The line is also against a building that has a lot of seating, so if that is a concern of yours, worry not. If the line gets to a certain length, they will open a virtual queue and give you a time slot to come back later. I was glad we got their fairly early, because the line just kept getting longer and longer the more we waited.

We were given a card with that month’s specials on it. I already knew going into this that I wanted their original chocolate chip cookie. The cookies are $6 each, and HUGE (almost half a pound.) We decided to get three so we could try different flavours.

I chose chocolate chip, my son chose cookies and cream, and my husband got Peanut Butter Crunch.

My parents were also with us, and tried a couple different flavours as well.

When we reached the door, we were able to finally catch a glimpse of the fun dark Victorian theming. Gideon’s has a real gothic bookshop vibe, with fake falling over bookshelves and fun little oddeties everywhere.

A fun and whimsical interior

The products at Gideon’s contain eggs, dairy, gluten, wheat and nuts, so this bakehouse is not reccommended if you have allergies, or require vegan options.

There is also no seating inside, which you most likely expect, but it’s worth mentioning. There are lots of places to sit outside, around Disney Springs.

The bakeshop can get crowded, but they do only allow a certain amount of people in at a time, so it’s not terrible.

We came here only intending to get cookies, but when we saw the cakes, we knew we had to try a slice. We got the banana cake, and it was AMAZING. I still think about this cake, and would love to try and recreate it at home.

The cookie and cake servings are so large that we had a lot left over, making it the perfect snack after a day at Disney. While there, we also tried the famous peanut butter cold brew, which also did not disappoint.
